Steam powered giraffe store11/27/2023 ![]() Ever wanted to hear what an acoustic version of Automatonic Electronic Harmonics would sound like? Well the game and this album have one! We even have a version of Brass Goggles, with backing vocals sung by the entire game development team at Image & Form Games! This album includes the SteamWorld Heist theme song created by the band, as well as 12 tracks, featuring 6 completely original songs written for the game, and 6 classic Steam Powered Giraffe songs, re-recorded to fit into the SteamWorld Heist game universe. That's right! Steam Powered Giraffe did music for SteamWorld Heist and Rabbit, The Spine, and Hatchworth make an appearance in the game, as themselves, entertaining their fellow robots in-game with their catchy tunes! These issues came to light recently for us and we feel it's only right to do what we can to make people aware of why we edited these video and validate the victims that have reached out.The robots from Steam Powered Giraffe are in a video game! The band will not re-edit the past albums, songs, music videos, and concert videos featuring Mike and Steve, but we wanted to do it at least for our recent music videos and our currently unreleased newest album "1896" and it's already released singles. They both crossed a line in their own ways that the band would never condone now or in the past. We are not going to invite arguments over the severity of the actions of either member cut from this video. Today we made another set of edits to "Shattered Stars" to remove Steve Negrete. We have already made edits and re-uploaded our recent music videos "Shattered Stars" and "Latum Alterum" to remove Michael Reed. Thank you for all the shows, songs, and smiles over the years. I will not be working with Steam Powered Giraffe again. As such, I am making the decision to resign from my position of employment with the band. I don’t want the rest of the band to try and defend me on any of this, I don’t want them to have to deal with stress because of me, and I don’t want my presence to serve as a deterrent to the fans.Ībove all, however, I want there to be no question regarding the core principles of Steam Powered Giraffe. What I do care about is how all of this affects Steam Powered Giraffe, and how it affects the livelihood of the people therein. To the internet at large, I say this: I don’t care what people think of me, and I don’t care about any reputation of my own that I have in this band. I cannot ask for your forgiveness, nor do I expect you to give it. I readily accept responsibility for leaving these scars, and I make no excuses for my behavior. To anyone who has suffered in any way due to my actions, I acknowledge that your feelings and emotions towards me are valid, and I apologize for the hurt that I have caused you. As a result of my actions, I have left emotional scars in my wake. ![]() The fact of the matter is that I have hooked up with fans during past Steam Powered Giraffe shows. With this statement in mind, I must reflect on my history with the band, and I must take responsibility for a stark truth: I have betrayed this principle during my time with the group. This simple statement serves as one of the band’s core principles. Steam Powered Giraffe is meant to be a safe place in an uncertain world. I stand in solidarity with the band’s reaction to the information, and also with the decisions they have made in response. The information that has come to light about Mike this past week has shocked us all. This is Steve Negrete, I’ve been the technical engineer for the live stage show for around 10 years. To the fans and followers of Steam Powered Giraffe, The band does not condone these actions and we are no longer working with Steve because of them. Yesterday someone came forward with an incident about our sound technician Steve Negrete and we followed up with the sources. The evidence presented to us in private is not something the band can turn a blind eye to and it's clear as day to us. We do not have a statement from Mike, he has denied everything when we contacted him early last week. The evidence presented to us from victims who contacted us shows him having inappropriate interactions with fans. If you haven't heard by now from our posts on Patreon or YouTube, last week issues concerning Michael Reed were brought to light.

Major slowdown hot shots golf fore11/27/2023 ![]() We estimate the point where the ball entered/crossed the hazard, and then follow a set of guidelines. What the USGA has failed to realise, however is that this is exactly what we do for a water hazard. In essence, the USGA is saying that a player/partner cannot be trusted to find a reasonable spot to drop the ball in relation to where it went OOB/lost. In its simplest terms, it requires a player (in the case of OOB or lost ball) to return to the spot from where the shot was originally played, adding a penalty stroke, and re-hitting.Ī (very long) report has been prepared by the USGA which explains the many reasons why SAD can’t be eliminated ( One of their big concerns is the “lack of an obvious reference point for a ball that is lost”. So it’s no wonder why, in response to the proposed rule changes, this one is the most talked-about. It has been tweaked, adjusted, eliminated, reintroduced and revised more times than a Trump immigration ban. Closer to home, in ‘Club land’, many rules are too confusing for the majority of players to understand/remember, while there are others that slow down the game.įor example: the Out of Bounds/Stroke and distance rule (or SAD – a fitting acronym).Since the inception of the modern game, the SAD penalty for Out of Bounds/Lost Ball has been a topic of debate. It seems that every year there’s some ridiculous situation where a player on Tour gets penalised (or even disqualified) for some arcane ruling that, to the casual observer, seems ludicrous. There are dozens of crazy rules currently in the book. ![]() In essence, this is our chance as golfers to make a massive difference to the game we all love. So I’m hopeful that some real change can be made. And while I’m under no illusion that the USGA or R&A are truly open to changing every rule, I do believe that the power of the masses (and media) can be very strong (just ask President Trump). In a refreshing twist, the USGA and R&A are, amazingly, asking for feedback/suggestions from golfers regarding the rules. If you continue to do well in these games, your ranking will rise (from Rookie to Amateur to Pro), and so will the game’s difficulty against more experienced players.By now you will have heard that the USGA and the R&A are conducting a major revamp/simplification of the Rules of Golf (for more, see page 8). Then we ran their setup while also turning on Xcode's build-time reporting flag so we didn't need to manually stopwatch this and introduce human error. We grabbed Artsy's app (thanks for open sourcing that, folks!) as its code-base is very real-world-app in size. Of course the real-world answer will be somewhere in between. Geekbench shows a ~20% improvement in single-core tasks, and ~70% improvement in multi-core when you go from the 2.9ghz i5 in the 13" line to the 2.7ghz i7 on the 15" line. Soroush was willing to run my test on his new 13" to compare to my results on a 15". We made sure no other processes were hogging the CPU or disk when the tests were started. Note: Geekbench links are not specific to the machines that ran the tests, but representative of the top scores for that configuration I could find. Not only does one hop CPU families with the size change (from i5 -> i7), but you're also doubling the cores (which is more important). Of more interest to me was how moving from the 13" to the 15" would effect build times. ![]() Of course, this doesn't hold a candle to what I work in when I'm at my desk on my 27" external monitor: I can actually see an entire view controller at a time without collapsing panels. ![]() I didn't think 15" would make a huge difference, but I've almost doubled my canvas area when I'm on the go. Here's a comparison of 13" vs 15" IB, in my default layout when editing a storyboard in Slopes, using the default scaling size on retina screens: Interface Builder is where I always felt the most constrained on a 13" laptop. Hopefully others might find this brief bit of information useful. So with my new MBP in-hand, and the help of some friends, I've compiled some real-world data about the differences from a developer's perspective. There were two things I wished I had better information on when shopping for a new laptop: Xcode build times, and screen real-estate while coding. Geekbench benchmarks are good indicators, but those aren't a perfect representation of real-world affects of that choice will make.Īnd it isn't like Apple lets you test out Xcode projects on floor units. It's easier to feel the difference in portability of the machines in-hand, but real-world performance is harder to judge. Part of my hangup was that of skepticism. I've always been a 13" kinda guy, erring on the side of portability, but I knew it was a tradeoff. One of the biggest issues I had when buying the new MacBook was what size to go with. I enjoyed each wine we tasted but my favorite was the Skin Fermented Chardonnay. The early 1900s hacienda was in need of a complete overhaul (it had partially burned down. A nice bonus was that we were treated to a cheese/snack board and it was the perfect compliment to all of the wine we sampled. Brothers Andrew and Adam Mariani are fourth generation California farmers who, after spending time as vineyard hands in Europe, returned to their hometown and bought an old vineyard in the foothills of Sonoma, California, to start their own winery, Scribe. Once we were made aware of what makes Scribe so unique, we were introduced to the wines we would be tasting: the Estate Riesling, Chardonnay, Skin Fermented Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The name? Founder Andrew Mariani and his team consider themselves “scribes” of the land and the winery is a testament to that. Once we checked in, our host for the afternoon gave us the history of the property (dating back to 1858 all the way through Prohibition) and about the people behind Scribe. One paper reported that certain antibodies in the blood of infected patients appear to change the shape of the spike protein so as to make it more likely to bind to cells, while other papers showed that the spike protein by itself (without being part of the corona virus) can damage endothelial cells and disrupt the blood-brain barrier. However, recent reports have raised some skepticism as to the biologic actions of the spike protein and the types of antibodies produced. The best well-known vaccines have utilized either mRNA or an adenovirus vector to direct human cells to produce the spike protein against which the body produces mostly neutralizing antibodies. The COVID-19 pandemic necessitated the rapid production of vaccines aimed at the production of neutralizing antibodies against the COVID-19 spike protein required for the corona virus binding to target cells. Famous violin repertoire11/27/2023 He composed over 500 pieces, over 120 of which were organ fugues. Instead, let’s talk about who this Pachelbel guy (1653-1706) actually was.Ĭan you guess how many pieces of music Johann Pachelbel wrote in his lifetime? If you guessed one, you are unfortunately wrong. Pachelbel’s canon is one of those works that even those who never intentionally listen to classical music will recognize, so I feel that not much needs to be said about the piece itself. While infamous to some, this piece does have strong romantic connotations for millions of people because of its frequent use at weddings. Dvorak started the Humoresque cycle in 1894 while he was working at the National Conservatory of Music of America in New York. This seventh one is the most famous and has been transcribed many times for different solo instruments such as violin, viola, or cello. Dvorak originally wrote it, along with six other Humoresques, as part of a piano cycle. Suzuki transposed it to D major to accommodate intermediate players, but the original key is G♭ major. Most of them are linked to the free violin sheet music and piano accompaniment.Īny violinist who has played Suzuki book 3 is familiar with this little piece. Without further ado, here is my list of twenty-two romantic violin solos, roughly in order of difficulty. Their music is romantic because of the feelings it evokes, not the time in which it was written. You’ll notice my list also includes composers like Bach and Mozart, who were from the Baroque and Classical eras respectively. There is a specific style of classical music from the 19th century referred to as the Romantic era which includes Dvorak, Beethoven, Chopin, etc. I am using “romantic” here in the broad sense. One other brief note before getting to the juicy part. ![]() Regardless, solo violin sheet music can easily be found for all of these pieces. Many of them are original compositions for the instrument, but some of them are solo violin transcriptions of works originally for piano or ensemble. To help you find your next gorgeous piece of repertoire, here is a list of twenty-two of the most romantic violin solos. Romantic violin pieces are the most lovely to listen to and the most delightful to learn. Perhaps you tire of always getting the same comment, but truth be told, the violin’s inherent sentimentality is our superpower. You’ve had it happen: the moment you tell a new acquaintance that you’re a violinist, he or she gasps with awe and says “Oh my, I love the violin, it’s so romantic”.
